Coalition casts wildfire prevention as a military readiness issue
Stars and Stripes · Oct 16, 2026
More than 40 organizations are pushing to amend the bipartisan Fix Our Forests Act into the FY2027 NDAA, framing wildfire prevention as military readiness; a summer letter to Sens. The Act (House-passed; Senate Agriculture reported, still awaiting Senate floor) would streamline environmental reviews for hazardous-fuels projects; opponents say it could increase logging and weaken oversight.
