Statutory text
Section 54301 of title 46, United States Code, is amended—(1)in subsection
(a)
(3) (A)(ii)(III)—(A)by striking including projects to improve port resilience; and inserting including—; and(B)by adding at the end the following:(aa)projects to improve port resilience; and(bb)projects to upgrade port cranes or parts of port cranes (including hardware and software) that—(AA)were installed or provided by the People's Republic of China or any department, ministry, center, agency, or instrumentality of the Government of the People's Republic of China; or(BB)are maintained, controlled, or sponsored by the People's Republic of China or any department, ministry, center, agency, or instrumentality of the Government of the People's Republic of China;; and (2)by adding at the end the following new subsection:
(d) Eligibility of shore power projects
(1) In general. In making port infrastructure development grants under this section, the Secretary shall treat a project described in paragraph (2) as—(A)having met the requirements of paragraphs (1) and
(6) (A)(i); and(B)being an eligible project under subsection
(a) (3).
(2) Project described. A project described in this paragraph is a project to provide shore power at a port that services both of the following:(A)Passenger vessels described in section 3507(k).(B)Vessels that move goods or freight..
